“Auditioning is sort of like me hiring a lawyer after watching the way she washes my car.”

It’s important to remember that when you walk into an audition, nobody is waiting to see whether you know how to act. They already assume that you do. What they want to see is whether you are Right for the Part (or for their Theatre School). How do you prove you are Right for the Part? Sadly, this is a question with no answer. If you are auditioning for Hamlet, perhaps you can try to show you know a thing or two about being depressed in Denmark; but if you are auditioning for Theatre School, you’re not so lucky.
If you’ve recently loaned Danny Boyle money or plan on being the next James Franco, then you probably don’t have to worry about auditions. But in case your career path isn’t following this trajectory, it might be good to remember the following things: (…)

Audition Notice: 2011-2012 Geordie School Tour

Geordie Productions invites actors to submit their headshot & C.V. to be considered for an audition for the 2011-2012 School Tour. Auditions will take place April 7th & 8th at the Espace 4001 Space (4001 Berri). There are a limited number of audition spaces, and unfortunately not everyone who enquires will be seen. Texts will be provided to those chosen to audition. Please email auditions@geordie.ca with your headshot & C.V.

About the Geordie School Tour:
The “2-Play” Tour travels Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes over an eight-month period from September to April, performing two productions (one for high school & CEGEP audiences, and one for elementary audiences) in schools, libraries, and community centres. This is a non-Equity engagement.

Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal March 5th

The Atelier lyrique is a competitive paid-apprenticeship for young Canadian opera singers who have finished their university education and are beginning their opera careers. The company coaches 10 singers over a period of two to three years, during which they master vocal technique, diction, acting and body language. The latter is helped by the complimentary Pilates class given to the apprentices.
